JANUARY WRAP-UP

Hey lovelies, welcome back!

Life got pretty hectic after my last wrap-up and the feature took a bit of back-burner as a result. However, it’s a brand new year (and decade!) and one of my New Years resolutions is to focus on my blog and keep up to date with the features I created.

This wrap-up is going to be for 2019/January since they merge together for me. The majority of these books were uni reads however I still loved reading them as if I’d chosen them myself. My favourite has to be, surprise, surprise, The Odyssey - I took a shining to Greek mythology last year and lapped up this myth up! I read this after reading Circe by Madeline Miller, and found my interpretation greatly influenced by Miller's re-telling.

The one personal read was The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black which I devoured! This book provided a brief escape from my non-stop schedule and was one of the only things that kept me from going over the edge during December.

Although they have been stressful, the last few months have also offered professional opportunities -

  • At the end of last year I became a Social Media Editor for INK 2020, a student-led anthology/journal. This is such a great opportunity for me and I am so excited to have taken on the role alongside fellow publishing course mate Mel (aka Gracefully Mel).  Check out her blog and give her a follow!
  • This week I attended the Fiction Showcase courtesy of Harper Collins which was a great opportunity to meet fellow bloggers, talk to the featured authors and receive a bag full of proofs (big shout out to Joe, Izzy, Sophie and the team for the invite and for an amazing evening!).

With my work load and hours reduced and with a brand new mind-set I’m hoping this feature will really take off this year so stay tuned! Let’s see what February has in store...
