MANICURE OF THE MONTH - City Of Bones

Hi everyone and welcome to Manicure Monday, a weekly feature that combines my love of reading and nail art. Each week I will be showcasing my currant book and a matching manicure.


Sorry for the lack of a Manicure Monday post last week, I was away for the Easter weekend. This weeks manicure is inspired by City Of Glass by Cassandra Clare.

To start with by applying a base coat and then applying 2 layers of the Rimmel london 60 seconds - round and round in circles to represent that sunshine on the cover.

The next step was to mix two different colours together, Barry M hi shine - watermelon and Barry M aquatic collection - arabian, to create an ombre effect. To create this look, you pour a small amount of each colour next to each other and mix together with an orange stick. Then dab a make up sponge into the mixed nail varnish and dab onto the nails, lighter in the middle of the nail and harder at the top.


To finish off i cleaned up the edges and applied a coat of clear nail polish to give a finished look and I was done.


The ombre effect didn't come out as well as I had hoped and will take some practice to get it perfect but it kinda looks alright.
